Jimmy Riddle was a former Marine and Police officer who lived in The Colony with his wife, Alice.

Jimmy was an employee of Special Operations Consulting Security Management Group. On March 6, 2005, He was escorting a convoy of contractors to an ammunition storage point in Al Ashraf when an explosive device was detonated, destroying the vehicle and killing him.

Jimmy was 53.

March 6, 2005 -- A former Sulphur Springs police officer working in Iraq for a private security firm was killed March 3 in an atack on a convoy near Al Ashraf. Jimmy A. Riddle, 53, of The Colony was in a vehicle escorting a convoy of contractors to an ammunition storage point in Al Ashraf when an explosive device was detonated, destroying the vehicle and killing him. Riddle, 53, was employed by the Sulphur Springs Police Department from 1980 to 1984. He joined the force as a dispatcher before earning his peace officer certification and becoming a police officer. He also served as Sulphur Springs Crime Stoppers coordinator. After leaving the Sulphur Springs Police Department, Riddle moved to the Dallas area, working as an officer for Carrollton Police Department. Riddle still has friends and former co-workers who live and work in Hopkins County. Riddle also served in the U.S. Marine Corps and had worked for the Texas probation department and several law enforcement agencies before Special Operations Consulting-Security Management Group Inc., or SOC-SMG, based in Minden, Nev., hired him in November 2003. Riddle was providing security to Tetra Tech FW Inc., which is under contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to destroy and capture enemy munitions in Iraq.
