Color Guard

Commander: Jeremy Jordan

Since early history flags and banners have been used by armies in battle.  They served several purposes in addition to being symbols of the unit.  To protect the flags, a detachment of soldiers was assigned to carry and guard them.

Being a member of the Post 21 Color Guard is considered an honor because these individuals present, carry, and guard the symbols of our Country, our State and the American Legion.

Our Color Guard is very active and presents the colors at local sporting events, community assemblies, parades, and veteran’s commemoratives…anywhere that the national anthem is played or sung.

The Color Guard detail consists of 5 persons: the National Color bearer, the State flag bearer, the American Legion flag bearer and two guards.

A Color Guard uniform (identical to the Honor Guard uniform) is required and the Post reimburses guard members for 50% of the cost of the uniform.  Individual out of pocket expense is approximately $85.00.

We hold monthly one-hour practice sessions at 8:00 PM on the first Wednesday of each month after Honor Guard practice.

If you are interested in joining our team or if you need a Color Guard for an event, please contact Jeremy Jordan at: 469-737-0031 or colorguard@post21.org.
